  柳幸典YUKINORI Yanagi

  1986 年より蟻を使った作品など、美術のシステムの外で＜移動＞を切り口に発表を開始。「第45回ヴェネチア・ビエンナーレ」（1993年）のアペルト部門で日本人初の受賞。以後ニューヨークにスタジオを構え、多くの国際展に招待され、「ホイットニー・バイアニュアル」（2000年）では、ニューヨーク在住の作家として外国人で初めて選ばれた。2008年、岡山県犬島で明治の近代産業遺産と昭和の三島由紀夫のメッセージを融合させた美術館「犬島精錬所美術館」を完成。2012年広島県尾道市の離島・百島の中学校廃校を拠点に「ART BASE 百島」を発足。

  Born in Fukuoka in 1959. In 1986, Yanagi began to exhibit artwork such that used ants and soil balls to represent dung beetle balls to address issues of "movement" from the perspective of an outsider of the art world's system. He moved to New York and started to work internationally after being awarded the Aperto Award at the 45th Venice Biennale in 1993. Yanagi's works were featured in numerous international exhibitions including the Whitney Biennial (U.S.A) in 2000. In 2008, he completed his long-term project, "Inujima Seirensho Art Museum" in Okayama. In 2012, he founded the ART BASE MOMOSHIMA, an art center located at a former junior high school building on a remote island MOMOSHIMA in Onomichi city.

• 大浦信行《遠近を抱えて》1982-1983

  大浦信行Nobuyuki Oura

  1949 年富山県生まれ。美術家・映画監督。19 歳の時より画家を志す。1975 年～ 1985年、渡米。1977 年から７年間、画家・荒川修作の助手を勤め、その間、数々の海外の国際版画展に出品。「富山の美術’86」展で昭和天皇を主題としたコラージュ作品「遠近を抱えて」版画シリーズを展示。この版画シリーズが検閲、タブーにふれ、作品が富山県立近代美術館によって売却、図録が焼却処分とされる。映画『日本心中前編』（2002）など、1997年から今日まで６作の長編映画を制作。　

  Born in Toyama in 1949. At the age of 19, Oura aimed to become a painter. He displayed his work in many international print exhibitions while working as an assistant for Shusaku Arakawa from 1977-1984. His collage piece using images of the Showa emperor exhibited at the Toyama Prefectural Museum of Art and Design in 1984 became a controversy and faced censorship by the authorities, resulting in all the catalogs being burnt by the museum itself. Oura has created 6 films since 1997.

  小泉明郎Meiro Koizumi

  1976年群馬県生まれ。横浜市在住。チェルシー・カレッジ・オブ・アート・アンド・デザイン（ロンドン）にて映像表現を学ぶ。現在は国内外で滞在制作し映像やパフォーマンスによる作品を発表している。主な個展: 「バトルランズ」ペレズ・アート・ミュージアム・マイアミ（2018）「捕われた声は静寂の夢を見る」アーツ前橋（2015）、「Project Series 99: Meiro Koizumi」ニューヨーク近代美術館（2013）、「MAM Project 009：小泉明郎」森美術館（2009）など。

  Born in Gunma in 1976, Koizumi lives and works in Yokohama. Koizumi studied video art at Chelsea College of Art and Design in London. He creates performance art and films internationally. His major solo exhibitions include “Battlelands”(Pérez Art Museum Miami , 2018), “Trapped Voice Would Dream of Silence” (Arts Maebachi, 2015), “Project Series 99: Meiro Koizumi”( Museum of Modern Art, Ner York, 2013)

  榎忠Chu Enoki

  1944年香川県善通寺市生まれ。60年代後半から関西を中心に活動。前衛グループ「JAPAN KOBE ZERO」での活動（1970～76年）を経た後、街中での会場探しからはじめ、自ら展覧会全体を作り上げることを行ってきた。型破りなパフォーマンスや、銃や大砲などを扱った作品、金属の廃材に新しい生命を吹き込んだ作品など、独自の世界を展開。美術館やギャラリーに限ることなく、現在も神戸を拠点に活動を続けている。

  Born in Zentsuji, Kagawa in 1944. Chu Enoki started to work mainly in the Kansai area from the late 60’s. After working as a member of the avant-garde group "Japan Kobe Zero"from 1970 to 1976, Enoki started to organize exhibitions all on his own, seeking out a site for his shows in city centers. Enoki has developed his own world by creating various projects from unconventional performances to artworks using guns and a cannon, as well as bringing new life to metal waste. Enoki resides and works in Kobe. The sites he chooses for his artistic activities are sometimes beyond the limited spaces of museums and galleries.

  池内美絵Yoshie Ikeuchi

  1973年 愛知生まれ、愛媛育ち。 京都、大阪を経て、神戸在住。カードや小冊子など、展覧会という形にこだわらない活動を続ける。2005年から2016年にかけて、約600匹のヤスデを飼育。「KOBE喫茶探偵団」（2013年～）、博物館を楽しむための活動「MUSUME」（2016年～）など、部活のような活動も行う。

  Born in 1973 in Aichi and raised in Ehime Prefecture, Ikeuchi now lives and works in Kobe. Ikeuchi's artistic practice is often showcased in unconventional formats such as postcards and booklets. She raised 600 millipedes during a period from 2005-2016. She also participates in school-club like activities such as the "KOBE café detectives" (2013~).

  ART BASE百島のプロジェクトやレジデンス、スタッフとして関わった若手アーティストを応援する継続企画です。百島の中で自ら表現の場を見出し、コミュニティーに深く関わることがミッションとして求められます。

  MATRIX is an ongoing program that supports emerging artists who have previously participated in projects at ART BASE. Artists are asked to discover spaces for artistic expression here in Momoshima and engage deeply with the local community during their practice.
