Onomichi Pallet Chairs were created in commemoration of the 35th anniversary of Soroptimist International Onomichi. They are installed on the square near Onomichi Warehouse No. 2 in Onomichi Port Terminal. The two colors of the chairs, vermillion and blue, represent two faces of Onomichi – the former is associated with the historical part of the town located on the east side of the station and the latter represents the modern area on the west side of the town.

A large palette table, installed in Onomichi Port Terminal on the mainland where boats are boarded to visit Momoshima, commissioned by Onomichi city, was made possible by the generous donation from the family of Mr. Masamori Hatate, who died in the devastating typhoon of 2011. Mr. Hatate was the owner of Hatasho-maru, a private boat which he used to assist Momoshima’s residents to the mainland, in case of emergencies, for years. The design of the table molds the shape of the Seto Inland Sea, in memory of Mr. Hatate.
