Momoshima Hyper Factory

Momoshima Hyper Factory is lead by Hideo Tanaka who was born in Hiroshima in 1976. In 2014, Tanaka moved with his family to Momoshima, where his grandfather was born. At the time of the move, for several reasons, Tanaka had only 16,000 Yen in his pocket, which made him start working on the island the next day. Later in 2017, he launched Momoshima Hyper Factory, specializing in construction work on the island. Tanaka has been involved in the conversion project of the house from the earliest stage, and brought in Momoshima residents and specialists, Elekiter☆Yoshiki, an electrician, TAKE-Shanti, a woodworker, and Strawberry Nishida, an ironworker, while contemplating the island’s future with Yukinori Yanagi, the director of Art Base Momoshima. Tanaka will open Momoshima’s first Izakaya-tavern next year, a place he hopes will serve as an information center for people interested in moving to the island. A new work by Yukinori Yanagi in the exhibition is inspired by the story of a protection sword that Tanaka was given from a resident of Momoshima, who was a soldier and survivor of World War II.
